So you are reading this post for one of three reasons:
- You’ve just gone vegan or thinking of going vegan and are interested in what snacks you can have.
- You are already vegan and want some new ideas on what to snack on.
- You aren’t vegan but are interested in what I eat for snacks.
Or I’m completely wrong and you are number 4, if you are then let me know in the comments what attracted you to this post and then in the future I can be more accommodating to what I write for you!
So there are tons of posts on the internet of “accidental vegan foods” even a few days ago I was reading a post done by PETA, but I thought it might be beneficial to see the sort of snacks that I eat when I am going out to lectures, on my lunch break at work or just fancy a snack at home.
Nakd Bars and Pulsin Bars
Both of these bars are available to buy in a supermarket and they are affordable too! I usually eat a Nakd Bar if I am busy in the morning and can’t have a proper sit down breakfast. I’ve actually been eating them quite a lot as I’ve had a few 9am lectures so I’ve had to get up early to do some readings for the lectures beforehand.
Fruit (Mangos, Bananas, Apples, Strawberries etc)
So fruit is an obvious one but I think it’s really important to eat a lot of fruit! If you aren’t fussed on apples or bananas then try something different! I’ve been eating a lot of mangos recently, they are usually expensive but they are selling them in my local tescos for about 60p which is a bargain compared to what other places sell them for! At home I also have apples, bananas and strawberries too. It’s an ideal snack for a lunch break or if you are busy!
Nuts (Walnuts, Hazelnuts, Brazil Nuts etc)
This is my current nut collection. I have cashews, hazel nuts, brazil nuts, walnuts and macadamia nuts. They are all packed with protein which is super important. I usually have nuts with alpro yogurt or I just add them to my cereal in the mornings! I’ve also made sandwiches before with courgettes and walnuts.
If I’m being honest, I never used to like avocado but I ate it so much that I grew to like it. In the mornings if I have time (and not busy just grabbing a nakd bar and a banana) I make myself avocado on toast! It’s a perfect breakfast snack. Avocados contain so much healthy nutrition for your body including vitamin B6, potassium, vitamin E, and vitamin C. For dinner yesterday I had pasta with tomato sauce and added one avocado to it!
And another thing to have on toast is my all time favourite…
So I didn’t want to add too many to the list and this is purely just my favourite snacks. I could add so many more (vegan chocolate, bourbons, apples with peanut butter, carrot sticks and hummus, sweet potato fries, salad, beans on toast etc) but I think it’s good to explore and find your own favourite vegan snacks rather than just telling about what I like! So let me know in the comments if any of these are your favourite snacks or what your favourite snacks are!
